                                                          BOARD OF EDUCATION                           

Special Board Meeting/Work Session – August 26, 2009

 

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order by President Rick Wetzel at 5:15 p.m. with the following members present: Rob Hunt, Archie Neil, Amy Nieman, and Mr. Wetzel.

 

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

MOTION Neil, second Nieman, to approve the agenda as presented.  MOTION CARRIED; Voting Aye – Hunt, Neil, Nieman, Wetzel.

 

HONEYWELL ENERGY PRESENTION

Representatives from Honeywell gave a presentation and had a discussion with the Board of Education on conducting the technical energy audit.  After the presentation and discussion it was determined to bring back to the board in November for approval.

 

ADJOURN TO BOARD WORK SESSION

MOTION Neil, second Nieman, to adjourn to board work session at 6:20 p.m.  MOTION CARRIED; Voting aye – Hunt, Neil, Nieman, Wetzel.

 

POLICY GOVERNANCE REVIEW

The Board of Education reviewed GP-8, Board Member’s Code of Conduct and GP-4, Monitoring Board Performance.  After discussion it was determined to make a change in policy GP-4 which will be presented for approval at the September Regular Board Meeting. 

 

CONVERSATION TOPICS FOR 2009-2010 SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS

The Board of Education discussed and came up with future conversation topics to be discussed throughout the 2009-2010 Board of Education meetings.

 

NOVEMBER ELECTION DISCUSSION/UPDATE

Superintendent Arseneau updated the board on the potential candidates for the upcoming November Election. The board discussed if directors are uncontested whether to withdraw from the election or continue and present the question as proposed.  The decision was made if there is no contest to withdraw from the election and perhaps hold a special mail ballot election in the future.

MOTION Hunt, second Neil, to adjourn the meeting at 8:13 p.m.  MOTION CARRIED; Voting Aye – Hunt, Neil, Nieman, Wetzel.
